New Year Resolution

Aurora   January 1st, 2011 3:16a.m.

Amongst the usual 'eating veggies every day' and 'training for a half marathon' kind of resolutions I have included 20 minutes Skrittering per day in my New Year Resolution list...

Anyone else included Skritter in their goals?

Happy New Year everyone! Happy Skrittering!

Cheers,
Donna

I only not what I do NOT want to do:

勿 skritter after 卯时 and before 戌时, exceptions made on 礼拜日.
毋 learn rare characters, e.g. 狨, 襽, 豰, 骣, 竤, 蓧, 躦.

The best cure: say "中文忒不带劲儿了" ten times after getting up and ten times before going to bad.

还有啦

勿 混合 different languages ... 哎哟,咋会
毋 use stupid accents and characters that you are unable to use anyway。啥意思

心有余而力不足

1. Get my items due down to zero
2. Add more words, not so many characters
3. Get my items due down to zero
4. Rinse and repeat

I had a bet with George for December that included, among many other things, 20 minutes of Skritter a day. The rules were rather intense and I knew it'd be tough as I'd be traveling, but the bet helped motivate me and I haven't missed a single rule. Now he has to have a cupcake eating competition with me. Side effects included learning hundreds of new words and characters.

I'm getting bit by lack of internet up in the mountains of Montana, though, so the next few days will break my streak! Having a 20 minute per day goal has led to the most progress I've made in a long time, though. Highly recommend.

Chinese resolutions:

1) Skritter 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week
2) At least 1/2 hour a day of reading Chinese
3) See Chinese tutor at least biweekly (with a prepared written assignment!)

Mine is to continue doing 10 Skritter minutes a day. Most days I go over but some days it's difficult to do that much. The Skritter clock will run much much slower than reality when I stop to think of mnemonics for new Kanji. Sometimes I will spend 10 or 15 minutes on one mnemonic but in Skritter time only a few seconds will have passed.

OK I have another resolution: learn more sentences that use Skritter words in context.
